Woman dies trying to break up fight between her husband and son

Ann Hay, 55, intervened when husband David and son Robbie fell out at a hotel in Queensland, Australia.

She was described as ‘a beautiful person’ by local councillor Gary Peoples, who added: ‘She loved her family to no end. I’ve never met a nicer person.’

Mrs Hay hit her head on the ground and initially got up and went home, but later fell into a coma after suffering an apparent brain injury. She was then taken to hospital on Saturday night but died yesterday, according to MailOnline.

A friend described the incident as a ‘one in 50 billion’ occurrence. They said: ‘She welcomed me into her family and her home when I first met [the family] 10 years ago. Every year, I go out there. We’re just one big happy family.’

Mrs Hay was a volunteer cattle drover, according to the Courier Mail, and carried out a lot of charity work. She was seen as a pillar of the town of Aramac, which has a population of just 300 people.

Police are investigating but neither David nor Robbie Hay have been charged with any offences.
